THE BIG FOUR:
Often brands will put on 3 separate showings; a private one for the buyers, a private one for the clients and one for the media. The buyers get to see the collection in a showroom, this way they can see the garment up close and see them in detail, they will also get to see the prices. The garments in the showroom are usually organised in the order that they come out in the show, as this can help the buyers to understand the story/concept of the collection as a whole. The show for the media is what comes last and reaches everyone.

PARIS- The original fashion week. Shown before everyone else, with couture 2 months before RTW
NEW YORK- the polished one, can be quite commercial
MILAN- Milan has the money
LONDON- Creative, contemporary, young.

British fashion is particularly doing well and its reputation of cool Britannia is coming back, with Barneys creating a whole week dedicated to British fashion, as well as the BFC creating a showroom in New York with British designers. It could also been seen on the trip to Paris, with Department store Printemps dedicating all the Christmas windows to Burberry. Burberry is the first British brand to have taken over the christmas windows in the store. In each window you see snippets of London landmarks and also little dolls of, star of the recent campaign, Romeo Beckham.
The changing role of fashion
The face of fashion has changed in its nature over the past 20 years.
-should fashion institutions educate new designers/design students to think about diversity in order to make them more commercially viable?
-Does contemporary British fashion/high fashion reflect modern Britain.
