The creative industry brings in 71.4 billion pounds into the Uk Economy according to the latest data from the department of Culture Media & sport. That is an astonishing 8 million pounds per hour! 26 billion pounds of that number is fashion related and it is growing at a rate of 15.6% since 2008.
In 2012,it produced 1.68 million jobs, which was 5.6 percent of the total number of jobs in the uk.

While many people will be an employee of a company or brand, many people in the creative industry find that they want to be self-employed. After all self-employment allows you to have control and you won't need to be told what to do all the time.

Some attributes needed to be self-employed:
-ability to communicate
-drive
-organisation of time, money, people alongside, projects
-commitment
-ambition, passion
- to be a risk taker
-to be a problem solver
-to be a marketer
-deal with unstable lifestyles
-collaboration

Creative industries are based on talent, individuality, ideas, innovation and of course creativity. Fashion in particular is passion lead, it is not strategic.

The Industry is usually split into three categories which include:

Originators- They produce one offs e.g the fine art market- these are you Grayson Perrys and Tracey Emins.

Experience Creators- The people who create live experiences for the public e.g Theatre, festivals, galleries, auctions and shopping.

Content Producers- The people who make the content. This can                       include, music, films, writing, games and fashion.
